Just Entertainment???

The other night John watched a new show called Phenomenon. Which opened up another of our many discussions about what a christian should or shouldn't expose their minds to.

So what I have decided to do is put what God has to say about magic, divination, astrology, and witchcraft.

" Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance," 1 Chronicles 10:13

God called Saul unfaithful because he consulted a medium. This is the same thing as consulting your horoscope, or going to a psychic to find out your "future".

"Let no one be found among you who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,"Deuteronomy 18:9-1

"Do not practice divination or sorcery."Leviticus 19:25-27

"A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.' " Leviticus 20:27

Apparently God feels pretty strong about anyone who practices this stuff! And since He does, I would say it stands to reason He doesn't want us watching things that glorify, condone or encourage things God has forbidden.

We're told to guard our hearts and our minds from evil (infuences). To say it is ok to watch shows like this "just for entertainment" is like saying it's ok to play with the Ouija Board because it's just for "entertainment". Trying to contact the dead to get answers is not entertainment it's sorcery/diviniation.

The line between good and evil has been almost completely erased today. What God has told us is dangerous and evil the world is now saying is Ok and acceptable.

"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter." Isaiah 5:19-21

God was VERY clear about the practice and participation in occult activities, and watching shows that make these things seem acceptable and ok IS participating as far as I'm concerned.

I mean if Jesus said we are guilty of adultery if we "look at a woman(man) with lust" -then does it really make sense the Lord doesn't have a problem with His followers watching shows that portray sorcery, witchcraft, diviniation, magic or those who talk to the "dead" (again, they are not talking to the dead, they are talkin to demons) as acceptable?
I think NOT!

There is a scripture that at the moment I am having a hard time remembering where it is, but it says to be careful what we condone or accept because we can bring judgement upon ourselves by condoning or overlooking things the Lord has condemed.

Not to mention the whole spiritual warfare aspect of all of this. God tells us to resist the devil, not invite him into your life by "playing" around in his domain.

I encourage you to do the research, open up the word and read for yourself what God has said. And instead of buying into the lies of the enemy - IE: this stuff is ok if you are just watchin or playing for entertainment.
The Lord loves us and when He warns us not to do something it is for a very good reason. He doesn't give us laws or rules just to spoil our fun...He wants to keep us safe. Just as a parent sets rules to keep their kids safe, our Heavenly Father does so...in fact..

Maybe its time for His kids to start taking serious the warnings before we find ourselves in a battle that could have been avoided in the first place.
